Course Overview

The "Mental Health First Aid Standard Course (Online Version)" is taught by a certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor recognized by The Mental Health Association of Hong Kong. The course aims to enhance public mental health awareness and equip participants with practical skills (A.L.G.E.E.) to provide initial support and appropriate intervention when individuals around them experience emotional distress or mental health crises, enabling them to become "Mental Health First Aiders" in the community. Upon completing the course, participants will be awarded an e-certificate for the "Mental Health First Aid Standard Course (Online Version)" jointly issued by The Mental Health Association of Hong Kong and our organization.

12 hours total:

  • Online E-learning Platform: 7 hours

  • Zoom Live Interactive Sessions: 5 hours (2 sessions, 2.5 hours per session)

Certification

Participants must fulfill all of the following requirements to be issued the "Mental Health First Aid Standard Course (Online Version) Electronic Certificate" jointly by The Mental Health Association of Hong Kong and our organization:

  1. Achieve a 100% attendance rate;

  2. Complete the online e-learning platform modules; AND

  3. Complete the course evaluation questionnaire.

The certificate is valid for three years from the date of issuance.

  • Identifying Mental Health Issues: Learn to recognize conditions such as depression, anxiety disorders, substance abuse, and severe psychosis.

  • Intervention Steps (A.L.G.E.E.): Master the practical workflow of assessing, listening non-judgmentally, giving support, encouraging professional help, and connecting resources.

  • Practical Skills and Principles: Learn safe intervention, building trust, and providing immediate support during emotional crises (e.g., assisting individuals with suicidal ideation).

  • Community Resource Connections: Understand available referral pathways and community support services.

  • Scenario Practice: Reinforce practical application through case studies and role-playing exercises.

Course Fee

HK$500 / person

Fee includes: One copy of the "Mental Health First Aid Manual (Standard Edition)" (Available for self-pickup at our office or via SF Express cash-on-delivery upon course completion).

Important Notice: Participants who fail the assessment or do not complete the course will not be issued the manual or certificate.

Note: In the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between the English and Chinese versions of this document, the Chinese version shall prevail.
